Born in Torrance, CA, I moved to the greater Annapolis, MD area at the ripe old age of 6 months. I lived happily in the land of Lacrosse and Blue Crabs with my parents and brother. I enjoyed success at several activities as a youth, but none distracted me from my dream of becoming an Equine Veterinarian; not even my girlfriend Heather who would later become my wife. My post-high school education started at the University of Maryland, College Park. I learned many things in College Park, the most important of which was that Maryland, although steeped in rich history and beautiful horse country, was just too liberal for me.
Thus, I traveled to Blacksburg, VA to pursue my dreams at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (the Vet School with the longest name). My four years at Va. Tech was a blast, but all good things must come to an end. So, Heather and I, now married, loaded up the truck and moved to the 757.
Dale Cupp, DVM was nice enough to offer me a position at Pine Meadow Veterinary Hospital (PMVH), a mixed practice located in the Tidewater region of Virginia. I didn’t know at the time that ‘Tidewater’ meant that when the tide was in, it was underwater! In 1994, after three years of nagging, Dr. Cupp finally figured out that he was never going to get rid of me, so he sold me the horse part of the business and Pine Meadow Equine Service, PC was born.
Initially, I worked out of a barn on Dr. Cupp’s property until, I was fortunate enough to come across our current location in Tabb, VA. Heather and I enjoyed living in southern York county with our 3 kids, 2-5 horses, 2 dogs, 1-2 cats (depending on the day) and whatever else shows up to eat on a given day.
When I am not running around in my truck, I enjoy kayaking, paddle boarding, watching CNU sports and, as anyone who is my friend of Facebook will attest, BBQing! (Source)
