Dr. Rohl grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and her interest in horses began with a pony ride when she was five years old. In the following years, she took English riding lessons consistently and eventually owned “Quill”, her first horse, a Quarter Horse gelding, with whom she spent hours on the trails in the summertime, and then got her first taste of competitive riding with 3-day eventing and hunter/jumper horse shows.
Throughout high school, Dr. Rohl spent her free time as a working student in competitive hunter/jumper barns in Illinois. She spent many hours training off-the-track Thoroughbreds and had the opportunity to show Warmbloods at hunter/jumper horse shows nearly every weekend. She enjoyed riding horses as much as possible and was directly involved with her horses’ veterinary care.
For college, Dr. Rohl went on to Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio to pursue bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Equine Pre-Veterinary Studies. During her time as a student, she received a Summer Research Scholarship for research on Red Maple Leaf Toxicosis in horses. Dr. Rohl was involved with horses through both riding and veterinary sciences. While at Otterbein University, Dr. Rohl rode on the IHSA Hunt Seat Team. She had the opportunity to compete at the American National Riding Championships and IHSA Nationals in 2013.
After graduating from Otterbein University, Dr. Rohl attended The Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in Columbus, Ohio where her interests in Sports Medicine, Integrative Medicine, and Internal Medicine were fostered. She continued to be involved with horses through riding horses, working as an equine veterinary assistant, and working as a groom at hunter/jumper shows.
Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Rohl completed an internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center in Littleton, Colorado where she rotated between Medicine, Surgery, Emergency, and Field Service rotations. She got a wide variety of valuable experience handling everything from common emergencies to rare diseases and everything in between.
Dr. Rohl looks forward to moving to Washington from Colorado with her mixed-breed dog, “Wrigley” and cat “Ferrous.” In her free time, she enjoys spending time hiking with her dog as well as staying active with running, CrossFit, and yoga. She is thrilled to be joining the Northwest Equine family. (Source)
