Dr. Kurtz grew up on a small farm in New Smyrna and graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School. She has ridden horses since she was 8 years old and showed livestock through 4-H. Dr. Kurtz completed her bachelor’s in Animal Sciences at UF in 2010. Dr. Kurtz graduated from UF’s College of Vet Medicine in 2014. While in vet school, Dr. Kurtz focused on equine and large animal medicine. Following graduation, Dr. Kurtz completed a one-year internship at Ocala Equine Hospital. After her internship, Dr. Kurtz moved to Texas and became an associate veterinarian at a large mixed animal hospital. Wanting to return to the sunshine state, she eventually moved to Fort Myers, where she worked in a specialty sports medicine equine practice that provided acupuncture and integrative medicine. Dr. Kurtz had the opportunity to move back home to Volusia County and created Bayside Veterinary Services in 2018. In addition, she is the veterinarian for Edgewater Animal Shelter. Dr. Kurtz has furthered her education by becoming a Certified Veterinary Equine Medical Manipulation Practitioner (chiropractic) and a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist. (Source)
