Originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr Magid is an equine veterinary specialist. He graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Fort Collins, Colorado. After several years in private practice, he returned to the University of Illinois to complete a residency program in Equine Internal Medicine.
While at the University of Illinois, Dr Magid was a Clinical Instructor in Equine Medicine and earned his Master’s Degree with advanced training in equine internal medicine, equine dentistry, equine surgery, and lameness diagnosis and treatment.
Dr Magid became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (DACVIM) in 1999 and received his Master’s Degree (MS) in 2002. He has been a speaker at national and state meetings on equine physiology.
Dr Magid has studied equine dentistry extensively and has worked with Dr Dean Scroggins and Dr Gordon Baker at the University of Illinois. Dr Magid has been an instructor in several equine dentistry programs for veterinary students and veterinarians.
After successfully completing the residency program, Dr Magid practiced veterinary medicine in Montana while consulting at Antech Diagnostics, a national veterinary diagnostic laboratory.
In 2005 Dr Magid relocated to Central Texas and began his mobile equine practice which has grown to provide clinic and hospitalization facilities at his ranch in Bertram, Texas.
Dr Magid serves several local equine rescue groups. He is a sponsor for the Williamson County 4-H horse show, and has sponsored several play days and rodeos. He has lectured at FFA meetings, informing high school students in the group about veterinary medicine and animal husbandry and has had high school students come to work with him in Leander ISD’s Cool Week program.
Dr Magid has also been deeply involved with the Texas Veterinary Association’s legislative efforts at the state capitol.
Dr Magid’s wife, Brenda, runs the ranch with the help of their twin sons, Isaac and Samuel. They keep busy with the joys of country life, feeding the chickens, gathering fresh eggs, tending the garden and caring for their horses and ponies. Brenda is a critical care nurse and works part-time at Austin Heart Hospital. Brenda, an ICU nurse, is a talented horseman and her skills are a huge help in the veterinary practice. (Source)
