Dr. Jennifer Adams’s personal and professional life has covered several aspects of veterinary medicine, as well as multiple areas of the US and Canada. Although born and raised for her first 10 years in California, she is now a confirmed Southern transplant, having attended high school in Atlanta and college in South Carolina. She graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 1985. Her employment history includes post-graduate work at UGA and advanced training at the veterinary teaching hospital at Oregon State University, followed by a job at OSU. While Oregon is a beautiful area with stunning scenery and green pastures, the ever-present drizzle sent Jennifer back to Georgia to an equine practice in 1999. A couple of years in a position at a Kentucky equine practice followed, then an opportunity at UGA as an anesthesiologist for several years. When that temporary position ended, Jennifer headed back to private practice.
Although dogs and horses usually predominate at Jennifer’s home, one “Mama Kitty” does try to rule the roost. Jennifer enjoys working on many species, both large and small, and has spent time in several areas of veterinary medicine, in both the US and Canada, in both private practice and academia. She pursued advanced training in large animal internal medicine and veterinary anesthesiology and became board certified in both fields in 1992 and 2009, respectively. For the last eight years she has been a part-time associate at Maggie’s Menagerie Veterinary Services (MMVS). Jennifer also works at a referral small animal practice near Atlanta. The work at this rural mixed practice has been very rewarding to her as she helps to keep animals and their human companions healthy and happy.
Maintaining her personal veterinary household and the never-ending home repair projects and yard work take up much of Jennifer’s personal time, but she also loves a good movie from time to time or an occasional weekend in the mountains with friends. (Source)
