Dr. Jennifer Miller-Bailey opened Four Star Equine Veterinary Services in January 2015. She realized the need for increased access to mobile equine veterinary care in the North Florida area, particularly with regards to lamenesses associated with foot ailments, therapeutic podiatry, and emergency care. In March 2018, she moved the base of operation to Friendsville, TN after getting married.
Dr. Miller-Bailey graduated in 2009 from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. After completing an internship in Equine Medicine & Surgery at the prestigious Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, FL, she then spent the next four and a half years practicing at an equine hospital in east TN. During that time she pursued advanced training in both therapeutic podiatry and acupuncture.
Dr. Miller-Bailey has a strong interest in ailments of the equine foot. She has received advanced training with the world renowned Dr. Ric Redden at The International Equine Podiatry Center in Versailles, KY where she learned how to apply the principles and mechanics of the rocker shoe for a variety of pathologic conditions of the equine foot. She continues to study under Dr. Redden, as well as a number of his proteges, to learn to intricacies of this mechanical formula and its application to a myriad of ailments.
Dr. Miller-Bailey received certification in Equine Traditional Chinese Medicine at the world renowned Chi Institute in Reddick, FL. Acupuncture is a very useful adjunct to Western medicine and can be used to treat a long list of equine ailments.
Four Star Equine Veterinary Services strives to provide advanced medicine and emergency services to the equine population in East TN and North FL. Services include general and preventive medicine, veterinary podiatry, dentistry, nutrition, lameness and pre-purchase exams, digital radiography and ultrasonography, acupuncture, and 24/7 emergency care. Services are provided on an ambulatory basis only at this time.
Dr. Miller-Bailey has been an avid equine enthusiast since she was a child. She was a member of the US Pony Club as a child and grew up competing as an Eventer. Today she and her horse enjoy participating in a little bit of everything including distance riding, cattle sorting, dressage, and a little jumping. Dr. Miller-Bailey is educated on USEF/FEI rules and the demands, as well as limitation, placed on the performance equine. From 2011 through the end of 2014, Dr. Miller-Bailey served as the show veterinarian for River Glen Equestrian Park, which hosted numerous USEA Events, USDF Dressage Shows, as well as USHJA Rated Shows.
