Dr. Jared Sharp grew up on his family’s Christmas tree farm in Western Oregon, amongst parents and his two siblings who shared a passion for raising cutting horses, and rodeo. Dr. Sharp competed in rodeo from a young age, eventually becoming both a high school and collegiate National Finals Qualifier. Rodeo scholarships led him first to South Plains College, in Levelland Texas, followed by New Mexico State University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture/Animal Science. After undergrad Dr. Sharp returned home to Oregon State University, where he received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2015. During his time at OSU Dr. Sharp served as the president of the Student Chapter of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, was awarded the Northwest Equine Practitioners Association Excellence in Equine Practice award, the Dr. E.E. Wedman Outstanding Senior Award, and the Carolina Cabaret Memorial Award for dedication, compassion, and kindness. Following graduation from OSU Dr. Sharp joined Idaho Equine in June of 2015 for a year long clinical internship receiving advanced training in all aspects of equine practice. After the 12 months at Idaho Equine, Dr. Sharp joined Animal Imaging in Irving Texas. Animal Imaging excels in Equine Imaging being one of the only private practices in North America to offer 3 Tesla MRI to equine patients. Animal Imaging is a leading imaging center with the ability to offer virtually every diagnostic imaging option in one location, which has given Dr. Sharp extensive training in equine lameness and advanced imaging including MRI, CT, and Nuclear Scintigraphy (bone scan). Dr. Sharp’s professional interests include lameness/sports medicine and advanced diagnostic imaging. Dr. Sharp and his wife Whitley reside in Parma, ID. Dr. Sharp is a member of the AAEP, AVMA, TEVA and Idaho Equine Hospital’s most recent partner. (Source)
