Georgy Maskrey-Segesman is the owner and operator of Whitethorne LLC, a unique business model that develops equitation horses and show jumpers while mentoring and in some cases sponsoring ambitious and motivated riders.
Georgy established Whitethorne in 2002, when she and her family found a beautiful piece of property in Somis, California with an abundance of potential. Once settled, the work to develop this beautiful piece of property into her vision began. It has been many years in the making but finally the farm itself has been completed and developed to administer to every aspect of horse and rider development.
Georgy, herself competed internationally up to the 1.50m Grand Prixs. She also has a solid foundation in dressage. With this experience she has successfully coached riders up to the 1.60m and to top placings in both national and regional medal finals.
Georgy feels very strongly about education within the sport. She hosts multiple clinics at her farm throughout the year and has also created and sponsors multiple equitation events, such as “The American Tradition of Excellence Equitation Challenge” held at Blenheim in San Juan Capistrano. This class originated from her experience in dressage and the competitor having access to the judges comments at the conclusion of a dressage test. She found that this information was game changing for a rider and used this concept as a foundation for her equitation challenge. Georgy believes that giving back to the sport that she loves is a compelling necessity and finds it truly rewarding.
All of this would not be possible without her foundation business, selling and leasing horses. Georgy loves horses and the sales and leases are just another way to connect and share that passion. It’s a source of pride that many of the sales and lease graduates have gone on to be famous, but it is equally rewarding to see so many horses thriving in many different programs.
“It is truly a privilege to get to do what I love every day, not many people get to say that, and I am grateful.” Georgy Maskrey-Segesman (Source)
