Dr. Dayna Love has adored animals from the time of her earliest memories—she grew up riding horses, and spent every weekend at the barn or attending horse shows. After shadowing a few of her local mixed-animal veterinarians, Dr. Love’s mind was made up: she would one day help others’ pets as a veterinarian herself! Her dream never wavered, and she’s proud to now serve animals and their owners daily as a member of the South Rhea Animal Hospital team.
Dr. Love grew up in Canfield, Ohio, where she was active in the 4-H Club and showed livestock at the local county fair. She moved to Columbus to attend Otterbein University, earning a double major in molecular biology and equine pre-veterinary medicine while riding for the school’s equestrian team. Next, Dr. Love headed to Ohio State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to earn her Doctoral degree and become a licensed veterinarian. She graduated in May of 2018 and was thrilled to accept a position with the South Rhea Animal Hospital family that June.
Here at the clinic, Dr. Love enjoys small-animal surgery and the way she gets to work with her hands to directly improve a pet’s health. She’s also fond of going out on farm calls to treat large-animal patients—Dr. Love enjoys getting to work outside in the beautiful Tennessee scenery on a regular basis!
When she’s not helping pets to live happier, healthier lives here at the hospital, Dr. Love can be found hiking, exercising, traveling—she’s made several trips out of the country, and even completed a month-long externship at an equine hospital in Sydney, Australia!—and spending time with her dog at home. She shares her life with Simba, a young Boxer mix who becomes the world’s largest lap dog when he isn’t outside chasing things. (Source)
