Dr. Hanson is a highly qualified veterinarian who has a life-long love of horses and 25 years of experience as a successful equine practitioner. He is also an accomplished horseman. Horses have an instinct trust of Dr. Hanson, which makes him a uniquely qualified equine veterinarian.
His love of horses began at age 5 when his grandparents bought him a pony. Since then horses and equestrian sports have been a passion. Dr. Hanson achieved the H-A certification as a member of the US Pony Club, participated on the University of Tennessee Equestrian Team and has been involved with Fox Hunting, Eventing, Dressage and pleasure riding. His background gives a broad understanding of the needs and demands of the horse athlete.
Dr. Hanson attended the University of Tennessee both as an undergraduate and in the College of Veterinary Medicine earning a BS in Agriculture and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. While at the university, he worked with local veterinarians and did an externship at the Delaware Park Race Track. These experiences provided valuable experience and knowledge in diagnosing and treating high performance horses. He has completed certification in the Embryo Transfer Course at Colorado State University.
