Dr. Kalonaros was born and raised on Long Island and earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Fordham University. During her time in the Bronx, she assisted in research at the Bronx Zoo and travelled to Elmont on her days off to work as a veterinary assistant at Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists, an equine referral hospital adjacent to Belmont Racetrack. Dr. Kalonaros continued her veterinary education at the University of Illinois, where she relished in both small animal and equine medicine. Shortly after graduation, she moved back to Long Island and found her passion in companion animal emergency medicine. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Kalonaros spends her time running, hiking, skiing, paddle boarding, and enjoying time outdoors with her dog, Kona. In the warmer weather, you can find her swimming in the bay or out on the roads training for triathlons! (Source)
